My radiator is not heating up. Why?

Question asked by: knowitall

If your radiator is not heating up then there are several possibilities.

However by far the most common is that there is air trapped in the system at the top of that radiator.

The pocket of air will mean that the water cannot rise up the radiator and hence it will be cool or just the bottom portion will be warm.

Luckily this is simple to resolve. Just get a radiator key and 'bleed' the radiator. Turn the key gently anti clockwise and you should hear air hiss out. Once the air has slowed or stopped, close again.
