Natural vegetation and wild life

why were the southern slopes in himalayan region covered with thick vegetation as compared to northern slopes of the same hills

The reason for this is due to climate, and the fact that in one region it was conducive to vegetation and plant life in general due to more favourable conditions, whilst being inhospitable in the other side and hence lacking in vegetation.
