Protection for winter

I have a number of Strawberry plants and some recently planted Onions & Shallots plus beans. The Onions, Shallots and beans are all Autumn planting varieties...Do they need protection from frost over the winter?

Good question! Are there any instructions on the packet that say about this? Often when I've had seeds in the past that are ones for use in colder climates they have instructions as to how to protect them, e.g. cover them in polythene or to put them in a greenhouse if a frost is predicted etc.
