Pythagoras theorem

There are no disadvantages of a theorem that has stood the test of time like pythagoras and is true unless you mean by disadvantage something like it applies in Euclidean geometry and therefore wouldn't apply on the surface of a sphere for instance or hyperbolic space!
The formula is a2 + b2 = c2 and it enables you to calculate the length of sides of a right angled triangle.
