How to simplify 8x-4x and yxyxy and 4x+3y-2x+5y

8x - 4x is 4x.
All you have to do is to remember that you can add and subtract and multiply x's just in the common sense way, think of apples.
If you have 8 apples and you eat 4 apples, then you have 4 apples left - the x could stand for apples.
