Many people think that sponges are synthetic materials.
However, believe it or not, a sponge is a real living animal!

Sponges belong to a phylum called porifera which comes under invertebrates animal. so i agree on them being a real living organism.

Sponges are made up of spongin fibres. spongin is a fibrous, proteinaceous material.
