Sulphur is a chemical element that is also called sulphur.
Where it occurs naturally it is a yellowish and soft non metal though it often occurs in compounds such as sulphur dioxide or hydrogen sulphide.
It is quite an abundant element in nature but you would not want to have it is raw form!
The amount of sulphur in the air has changed a lot over the years and there used to be lots more from volcanic emissions and so on when the earth was more active volcanically. It forms strong acids for instance sulphuric acid is a very strong acid indeed.
