Toilet seat won't stay up!

My toilet seat won't stay up on it's own due to the cistern being a little bit forward. I don't want to get into expensive solutions or major works to fix this. Is there a simple method I could emloy. Someone suggested magnets? I couldn't see that working because the magnet would have to be fixed to the seat. Any ideas?

Could you not simply loop a little piece of string around the toilet seat and then fasten to that the wall, for instance wrap the other end around a hook on a piece of sticky plastic attached to that wall. This should work and won't cost much at all.
