Was the plantation system beneficial or harmful?
Question asked by: sabrinacat
Asked on: 23 Apr 2008

The plantation sytem divided land into small units that were owned privately.
Whether this was a successful system or not depends on your thoughts and opinions and what you are talking about - was it a success in terms of creating more food, deriving profit for the owners or in terms of the human rights and health and wealth of those who worked the lands. Depending on which facet you are interested in you are sure to get a rather different answer to this question!
