What are the mistakes that Europeans made in Africa?

It is hard to answer this question objectively as everyone will have a different opinion on what should and shouldn't have happened.
Of course things would be done differently now, but it is a very artificial question to look back in retrospect when people had different values and opinions, knowledge and attitudes and work out what they should and should not have done in the past, infact it also has very little meaning to do so (applying normative judgements from today's morality and knowledge to the past).
