What are the rules of sudoku?
Question asked by: knowitall
Sudoku is a fun puzzle game that has gripped people the world over since around 2005 particularly, though it has been around in one form or another for many years.
It initially appeared in America and has been known under many names, including things like Solo.
To play sudoku all that you have to do is fill in the grid such that every row, column and 3 x 3 grid contains the numbers 1 - 9 once and once only.
The grid starts with some numbers placed to help you solve the puzzle.
A valid puzzle has one unique solution and you should not need to guess with a good puzzle according to most experts.
Note that this is the standard sudoku puzzle - there are variants for instance smaller and bigger grids, as well as other types of sudoku that add more rules and restrictions, but all are based around the same theme.
