What causes condensation on windows and how can I prevent it?

Question asked by: knowitall

Condensation is the water that forms on windows and similar surfaces.

It is caused by humidity, and specifically water vapour cooling upon contact from the air when it hits the cold window, and therefore condenses to liquid water - hence, condensation!
