What causes men to go bald?

Men go bald if they lose their hair quicker than it gets replaced.
With normal hair the hairs do fall out from time to time but they grow back at a rate to cover that. But with those who go bald the hair follicle loses the hair and nothing grows back, leading to the person going bald over a period of time.
