What does 'albedo' mean?
Question asked by: knowitall
Albedo is a scientific measure of the fraction of light reflected by a body. For instance, each planet in our solar system has a distinct albedo - propensity to reflect the light from the sun, and this can change over time depending on atmospheric conditions of each planet. Albedo ranges from 0 to 1, with 1 being highest. The Moon is quite dark with an average albedo of 0.12, whilst Venus is much higher at 0.76 and Earth inbetween at 0.37.
