What is 6x+10=87-5x

what is the exact answer in decimals and how did you get the answer
Question asked by: maths123

OK so here we have a simple algebra equation.

The key tip with algebra is not to panic when you see things like x, they follow rules. If you don't understand what algebra is then just learn the rules and solve them following abstract methods.

6x+10=87-5x

So this tells us that x + 10 = 87

That means that x = 77

I'm afraid that knowitall's answer to this question is incorrect. The correct solution is as follows: 6x+10=87-5x =) 6x = 77-5x [subtract 10 from both sides] =) 11x = 77 [add 5x to both sides] =) x = 7 [divide both sides by 11]

6x + 10 = 87 -5x Your first step is to take away 10 from both sides of the equation, eliminating the 10. 6x = 77 -5x Your second step is to add 5x to both sides of the equation, to eliminate the -5x 11x = 77 We now know that 11 multiplied by something gives 77. So the answer is 7, as 7 x 11 = 77. Hope this helped.
