What is a brainteaser?

A brainteaser is a type of puzzle that makes you use the brain, so literally it is something that teases the brain or mind.
Typically these are short and sharp questions such as logic ones that do not admit of an obvious answer but with a little thought and perhaps even some lateral thinking one can come up with the answer and derive a little satisfaction in the process.
