What is a commemorative stamp?

Question asked by: knowitall

A commemorative stamp is one that literally commemorates some event in history.

As such there will be stamps of different values in a set each depicting something different.

For instance a set of stamps showing great scientific inventions may have the telephone on one stamp, the television on another and so on.
