What is a crown?

Question asked by: mrquestion

Asked on: 27 Dec 2009

A crown in terms of teeth and dentistry is essentially a replacement tooth.

When too much of the tooth has gone for a filling to be worth it, then often a crown will be given.

This is a false tooth that is attached to the tiny bit of tooth that may be left and basically where the root was.

This usually works through a metal pole that is inserted into the root or cavity where the tooth was in order to provide an anchor for the tooth to attach onto.
