What is a rainbow?
Question asked by: knowitall
A rainbow is stunning and has fascinated generations of humans who have interpreted it as many different things, with attributions to the moods of various gods and supernatural beings. Scientifically, a rainbow may be described as sunlight spread out into its spectrum of colours, and diverted to the eye of the observer by water droplets. The "bow" part of the word describes the fact that the rainbow is a group of nearly circular arcs of colour all having a common centre. The bow shape is caused by the refraction of the individual spherical drops in the air.
