What is actionscript?

Actionscript is a language that is used to create Flash movies and to control elements within those Flash movies.
For instance if there is some interactive element to a Flash game then the chances are that this is controlled through Actionscript.
If you have done something like Javascript then the way that Actionscript works won't be too alien to you.
