An aerosol is composed of a small, solid particle, that is contained within a gas like air.
Hence smoke is a perfect example - small solid bits of waste in air.

Aerosol is a colloid. There are two types of aerosol. Solid aerosol and liquid aerosol. Solid aerosol: suspended solid particles(carbon particles, dust particles etc.) in air; Liquid aerosol: liquid particles in air.
