What is battle ships?

Battle ships is a game whereby you need to detect the location of ships on a grid of paper, with different ships being composed of different lengths of filled cells.
For instance, one ship might be one filled cell, whilst a really large ship may be four or five cells all joined consecutively.
All the cells adjacent to a ship must be white, which designates the water they are in.
