What is Fermi's paradox?

There has been much debate about the big questions, such as 'is there other life in the universe?'
The Fermi's paradox raises one of the big problems with regards extraterrestrial intelligence.
The problem is simple, and has been stated in many ways, but essentially asks "if there is all this life out there, where is it?"
