What is helium fusion ?
Question asked by: knowitall

Fusion is the chemical process whereby nucleii of atoms join together.
This happens under extreme heat and pressure, contrasted to fission, which is where the nucleus splits.
The release of energy is dramatic, and other elements are produced as a result.
Helium fusion, then, is the fusion of helium nuclei.
Standardly beryllium is produced, however extra nuclei can also fuse to form carbon, oxygen or even heavier elements depending on how dense and hot conditions are.
This happens in the natural world in certain phases of the life cycle of stars.
