What is the Copernican model of the universe?

The Copernican model, created by Nicolas Copernicus, has the model known as the heliocentric model of the universe.
For the first time it was suggested that the planets go around the sun, rather than that the sun and everything else goes around the earth as had previously been thought to be the case.

actually knowitall you really dont know that much.. it wasnt the first time a heliocentric model of the universe had been suggested. Copernicus acutally got his ideas from Aristarchus who was the fisrt person to suggest the sun was the centre of the solar system.
