What is the effect on the speed of a fighter plane chasing another when itopens fire? what happens to the speed of pursued planes when it returns the fire?

Question asked by: ali shah

This reduces the speed slightly of the attacking plane though it is minimal.

This is one of the classic laws of motion in operation, every action has an equal and opposite reaction.

Firing something forward out at speed has an opposite reaction which is to push down and thereby slow down slightly the aggressor plane.
