What is the moon Ganymede like?
Question asked by: knowitall

Ganymede is a moon of Jupiter and is known most for being the biggest of all the moons in our solar system - being as it is 5270km in diameter.
It is frozen water ocean pretty much and some of it is young and some of it is old.
It is thought that there was in the past so called plate tectonic activity which is very significant, the only proven place other than our own earth in fact.
It has some tidal heating but is colder and more solid than the closer Europa which is more influenced by the great forces of the giant planet.
