What is the X-wing solving strategy for sudoku?
Question asked by: mrquestion

The X-wing solving strategy for sudoku is one that can be used to solve a puzzle that does not submit to the usual simpler methods.
With X-wing basically you see that there is a number that must go in one of two places which are the same in different rows/columns, e.g. let's say it must go in either cell 1 or 6 in row 1 and either cells 1 or 6 in row 5... then you know that it can't appear in any other cells in those rows or columns and can be eliminated. That is a use of X-wing.
