What jobs does a graphic designer do?

A graphic designer is essentially someone who either creates from a brief or from their own head.
You might be asked to create a Flash game for instance that does x,y,z against a brief: or simply given a fairly undetailed brief and told to use your imagination.
You might work on a logo design from a brief and be given elements of what a client wants then come up with options and ideas yourself to meet against that brief.
