What makes a good piece of fiction?

Question asked by: artiste

Asked on: 01 Feb 2010

A good piece of fiction is something that has a gripping story and makes you want to find out more.

It should have a good and interesting plot and hopefully something that is novel so that people won't have come across it before.

Then what you need to do is ensure that the plot continues to develop well through the book to keep people interested, and whilst it is fiction it helps if it is as least realistic or believable, it must at least be consistent throughout.

And there is plenty more to it as well like being able to make good imagery and bring the story to life for the reader and capture their imagination, suspense or emotions.
