What part of a map tells the relationship of distance shown on the map to real distance of the earth?
Question asked by: knowitall
That would be the scale of the map which lets you find out the real distance from that on the map.
Thus if the scale is 1 to 10,000 then you know the real distance is 10,000x greater. So one centimetre on the map is actually 10,000cm in real life, or 100metres.
