What side was oliver cromwell on in the english civil war?
Question asked by: knowitall
Oliver Cromwell was one of the generals who was on the side of parliament in the English Civil War against Charles I.
As such he did not want to be king or monarch but rather Lord Protector, though after his death the monarchy was restored fairly swiftly to whoever had the apparently least arbitrary connection at the time.
