What skills do you need to be a good graphic designer?

You need first and foremost to have artistic talent in order to interpret a brief and come up with something that looks good.
This is one of those skills that can be honed but to some extent tends to be natural - people are either good at it or not and there is not much more to it than that.
As well as artistic talent you will need creativity and also infact often quite a lot of technical skill too, particularly if you are doing the graphic design with software packages it can take a lot of skill and training to get the best out of these.
