The Hindeburg disaster as it is known occurred in the year 1937, to be precise on May 6 of that year.
The Hindenburg was a German zeppelin that was landing in New Jersey.
It was significant as it was one of the two largest aircraft built to date, and sparked a whole host of conspiracy theories. It also received a lot of media coverage at the time as it was all extensively filmed.
