What's the best over the counter treatment for spots?

This is the million dollar question.
There are literally tens of different spot creams and treatments out there and for everyone who says a cream has zero effect for them there is someone else who says it really helped to clear up their spots and swears by it.
This makes it hard to recommend because it really does seem to be a case of trying several of them and seeing which is most effective for you - all our skins are different and it seems that for whatever reason what works for one may be useless for another and vice versa!
