When did dodos become extinct?
Question asked by: knowitall
We are not sure of the exact year of course, however it is believed that by 1680 this flightless bird was no longer with us.
It was a sitting duck, as it were, having no predators, as soon as predators were introduced the bird was not evolutionary savvy to the dangers and therefore made easy pickings for those who came to Mauritius.
There were a few remains left for centuries, but the last live bird was believed to have been around the 1670s or similar.
