Who is Nigel Lythgoe?

Nigel Lythgoe is a judge on the TV show so you think you can dance.
He first turned up on the screens in the UK on one of the first series of pop idol or perhaps a similar show can't remember the exact name where he was a judge who was quite honest and known as Nasty Nigel. It is said by some that Simon Cowell based his on screen persona on the sort of honest judgement that Nigel was known for but added his own unique twist to become the reality TV show phenomenon that he now has.
