Who is the best sudoku player?

Not sure if there is such a thing as the best sudoku player.
The possible ways of rating this are perhaps how many they can complete in a set period of time, or how many mistakes on average they make, or how many solving methods they know of without having to resort to guessing.
There are sudoku world championships and looking around for answers it seems that the name thomas snyder comes up quite a lot as someone who can solve these puzzles at speed.
