Who was the best photographer ever to live?

There have been many famous photographers who have existed, but really it depends on the field.
Obviously there are those that specialise in portrait photography or landscape photography and so therefore it is very hard to talk of the best ever photographer, it really comes down to the genre and also even the era and the type of equipment available at the time.
