Who was the Lord Protector?
Question asked by: knowitall

This is the title that was assumed by Oliver Cromwell (1599 - 1658), the man who brought about the execution of Charles I after civil war between Charles and Parliament occurred in 1642.
His remains were removed from Westminster Abbey in 1660 under Charles II, hung up in chains and buried under the scaffold at Tyburn - which many to the day believe to be a fitting end.
