Creatures are classified to make it easier for us to manage and identify everything in the world around us.
We have always been aware of those we share the world with, and are obsessed as a people with order and taxonomy. We like to structure and understand the world around us - a fundamental human trait.
Therefore classifying species is one of the best ways to help us understand the structure, evolution and nature of the world around us and the species therein.
