Why are relationships so hard?

Relationships are so hard simply because they involve people, and people can be erratic and difficult.
There are emotions and ups and downs in everyday life and if in a relationship then the relationship can get affected by the good and bad moods; on a day when both people in a relationship are stressed or in a bad mood then this can get taken out on each other.
So human relationships are necessarily hard at times with ups and downs, the point is to stick at it and work through them for the many good times that are the flip side of being in a relationship!
