Why are TV shows so formulaic these days?
Question asked by: mrquestion

TV shows are very formulaic because it is a formula that works and if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
The classic example is the reality TV show singing / dancing competition - these are all basically the same just with different presenters and slightly tweaked formats but the core is the same.
The reason they do so well is simply that they get lots of viewers as they are so there is no need to change them.
