Why do immigrants from overseas often settle in parts of the inner city?

this is a geography based question. and i have an assignment due.

This is probably due to the access of opportunities there, like if they can't drive for instance then they need to be within walking distance of various things.

Also there will be the phenomenon whereby where some people settle others will come too.
