Why do people on TV wear fake tan?

People on TV wear fake tan because these days it is seen as a bad thin to look pale and pasty because some people think that doesn't look very healthy.
The other thing is that due to the way that colours work on television people tend to look paler than they are which is why most people on TV for instance wear make up when they are on set so that they look good on the television.
