Why do we have day and night?
Question asked by: knowitall
Day and night are caused by the motion of the Earth. The Earth rotates on its axis once every twenty four hours.
When it is facing the sun, clearly we have day. As it turns away it gradually gets darker until we have night, where the sun is blocked off by the other side of the earth.
Finally it gets lighter again as the rotation completes, until day breaks again.
