Why ethanol used for cyclization

What is cyclization?
The answer is probably that the chemical is well suited to the process and that is why it is used for it.
However I have never heard of cyclization so cannot be sure what the answer is until I know what it is, but then if I did know then maybe I would know the answer so really who knows!
