Why is water essential to life?
Question asked by: knowitall

Water is essential to life for several reasons.
The major reason is that it is liquid at the temperatures that our bodies are at.
Therefore it can be used as a transport mechanism to carry material and essential nutrients around the body, and allows a creature of any size to be created.
Also important is that it is abundant on earth and therefore an excellent basis for life.
Finally, water is a superb solvent, and many nutrients dissolve in it and this is also an ideal quality.
