WHY THE TREES GROW ONLY UPWORD??

WHY THE PLANTS GROW AGAINST THE FORCE OF GRAVITY??
Question asked by: damanmehta

Asked on: 24 Mar 2010

This is because they need light in order to function, and to get light then you need to grow up towards the sun rather than down into the soil where gravity pulls them to the centre of the earth.

Therefore they are programmed through their genetic make-up to grow up towards the light through phototropism and general awareness and sensitivity as to where the light is.
