Will dating a manager help you succeed in a company?

Dating a manager to get up the career ladder? Surely not!

Well the honest answer is that in some cases I'm sure that it can help with a career. We've all been in companies where there are public or private rumours about someone who has got to the top through, shall we say, using her charms (because it does always seem to be women that progress this way for some reason though surely there must be men who do the same?)

However I don't think this is a healthy way to look at things. You should date someone because you like them, get on well etc rather than due to their status within a company and potential to help you climb the corporate ladder.
